Expectations

- Perform all expected duties of a Licensed Funeral Director and embalmer including but not limited to:
- Follows direction of the Dispatch Department
- Prompt and respectful transport of the deceased
- Leading and directing staff on dispatched calls
- Maintaining professionalism in all interactions
- Embalming, dressing/casketing, ETC.
- Lead funeral services, make arrangements with family, process paperwork for permits and death certificates, ETC.
- Follow procedure and perform all duties up to Company Standards

Given the structure of our organization, there is some variability in income mostly defined by individual capacity and skill set; wages for a full time licensed funeral director and embalmer with us typically range between $72,000 and $96,000, but can enter into six figures for driven full time colleagues once established.

- A Licensed Illinois Funeral Director and Embalmer
- Base Knowledge of all aspects of Funeral Directing
- Ability to push, pull, and lift 150 lbs
- 2 Years of Experience
- Motivated to learn and grow as a Funeral Director and Embalmer
- Superior communication and attention to detail
- All licensed directors should be able to properly and safely perform any tasks assigned to them

Compassion Funeral Service is Northern Illinois’ largest third party mortuary trade and supplementary staffing service. We offer a wide range of services designed to support our clients. These services include: removals, embalming, livery services, funeral lead and assistance, cremation, and much more. We currently work with a highly diverse group of over 165 clients across an eight-county service area around Chicagoland.

Full Time Employment Benefits:
Full-Time Definition: Full Time Employment with Compassion Funeral Service requires a minimum of just three (3) day a week. We currently operate on twenty-four hour block schedule similar to that of a firefighter or police officer, (7am-7pm, 7pm-7am). For those of you looking for more time off during the week this may be a great opportunity for you, especially in an industry where long grueling hours are all too common. For those who are motivated we offer the opportunity at highly competitive wages. Team members are allowed to pick up shifts as they wish, allowing them to earn the wage they want.
Team members do not actively work during the full duration of each shift. We operate on a rotating schedule with three funeral directors on during the day and three during the evening, to alleviate fatigue. We offer flexible scheduling and have fostered a fruitful company culture. Everyone on our staff seeks to see Compassion Funeral Service continue to grown and thrive. We welcome newcomers. Given the structure of our organization, average wages for full time employees vary. Team members dedicated and committed to hard work may see wages on the higher end of what is common in this field. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual.
